Susanne Hopkins practices primarily family law, including divorce, post-divorce disputes, separation, custody, visitation, protective orders, support matters, and guardianship, as well as transactional matters including settlement agreements, pre-nuptial agreements, and post-nuptial agreements.

Ms. Hopkins is known for her no-nonsense, aggressive approach to the practice of law. She provides personal attention to her clients, and diligently represents their interests. Susanne is detail-oriented, balanced, and forthright. Moreover, she understands the difficulty and emotional toll family law issues can take on clients, and she approaches every case with empathy, patience, and dedication to her clients needs. Susanne believes in working to resolve issues efficiently and effectively in order to achieve the best outcome possible for her clients with the least amount of conflict.

Ms. Hopkins is also a certified Guardian ad Litem for children, and regularly represents children in that capacity. She is known for her compassionate, hands-on, thorough, and aggressive representation of children. Ms. Hopkins has been practicing law since 1991, both in private practice and in-house as general counsel. In her free time, she has worked with many organizations, including the Washington, DC legal clinic for the homeless, and Childhelp USA in Culpeper County, VA. She believes in giving back to the community and is active in various local organizations.

Prior to law school, Ms. Hopkins worked as a Research Associate at Yale University and at Genex Corporation where her research was focused on protein design. Susanne attended State University of New York at Buffalo where she received a BS in Molecular Biology. She attended George Mason University School of Law and received her Juris Doctorate in 1991. Susanne graded onto Law Review and received the American Jurisprudence Award in Constitutional Law. She was licensed to practice in the Commonwealth in 1991.

Ms. Hopkins is a member of the Virginia State Bar, the District of Columbia Bar, and the Fredericksburg Area Bar Association. She currently practices in the Fredericksburg area and surrounding counties including Spotsylvania, Stafford, King George, Westmoreland, Culpeper and Caroline
